We absolutely loved our stay at Park Lodge Mountain Side. The lodge had such a cozy and homely atmosphere, and the view from our window was simply stunning, with trees and birds all around. The location was excellent, nestled in beautiful woods, although it was a bit far from the station. The shared area provided a comfortable space for chatting with other guests. The highlight of our stay was definitely the delicious dinner and breakfast options. We highly recommend dining at the lodge, as the dining options in town were quite limited and not as good. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel right at home. We even had the opportunity to witness a breathtaking sunrise on top of a nearby mountain with another guest. We also appreciated the close proximity to an onsen for some relaxation. an amazing experience that we hope to repeat in the future.

This hotel is fantastic. We were looking for something away from the ordinary crowded and busy places of downtown. This place has a castle feel and look to it and we loved the personality of the place. Great english speaking staff, very helpful giving directions. Our room had 5 beds and it was exactly what we needed. The bathroom could have been cleaner, but after all, it was not bad. We purchased breakfast at the hotel as well, it was delicious and reasonably priced. The hotel really is great and we will be back, for sure!

The couple who run this lodge are very friendly and informative about what to see in this area. The breakfasts and dinner were well prepared and of good value. Would not be convenient without a car as it is some distance from the train station. The area is well worth visiting in order to see the shrines and temples.

The manager and his staff were friendly and helpful. All spoke excellent english. They have western homecooked style food and a nice breakfast and dinner menu. There is a cozy living room/beakfast area with internet (small fee), guitars to use, and a great place to chill out according to my 20 yr old grandson. There is an onsen within walking distance. The area is beautiful. We enjoyed it after our hectic Tokyo visit. The rooms are adequate, clean and quiet with full bath in the rooms. The price is very reasonable. The manager provided us with a free ride to the train station and bus center. This is a fine place for young adults and families who like hostel type lodging.

The property is located outside of the city, offering peace and a countryside atmosphere. The staff are helpful, especially during emergencies. The rooms are comfortable and clean, providing a cozy and relaxing experience. The decor resembles a charming cottage, adding to the tranquility. Perfect for those seeking a retreat from city life.

The staff was friendly.
In the morning the staff got up late and there was no one to answer questions. Breakfast was served later than expected. The place is not very clean. The bathroom did not appeared to have been cleaned. The place smells dirty and musty, which is surprising giving that Japan is such a clean place.

loved our stay at this charming forest lodge. The cozy cabin vibe, friendly staff, and delicious meals made our city holiday even more special. The location was perfect, surrounded by beautiful woods and a short walk to a tranquil onsen. Highly recommended!
No dinner option available.

15 minutes uphill walk from the Nikko station, which was actually good because it puts you in a calm green area with the temples at walking distance (20 mins). staff drive you from / to the station when you check in/out at 9.30 or between 15/17h so you don't have to carry the bags or take a taxi. Nikko is not the most flexible place for having dinner at any time or place, so dinner 6.30 is what is offered, and the hotel's dinner is very nice. The couple who run the place speak very good English, too, think they lived in the states.

I absolutely loved my stay at this lodge! The owners were incredibly friendly and hospitable, going above and beyond to assist me. They even helped me with my luggage and transportation to their mountain-side location. The atmosphere was so homey and welcoming, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. Plus, the lodge was surrounded by beautiful wooded parkland and had amazing mountain views. Perfect for someone like me who wants to be in direct touch with nature.
Felt like part of their family, couldn't find anything to complain about.

Staff attempted to be helpful on the surrounding attractions however during the explanation. The staff used their phone for texting and answering calls making us wait.
This space is not large enough to allow us to explain in full the awful experience. Insects spouted from the air-conditioning when switched on. My wife was unable to sleep through the night due to this trauma. Room facilities were almost non existent. No kettle, drinks in the room. Refrigerator was smelly (un-plugged and closed) and had what appeared to be human pubic hair in it !!! Bathroom was incredibly small and not as clean as we would have expected. My wife wanted to leave the hotel however were held hostage as the public transport was nearly none existent after 6 pm. We were unable to leave for home (central Tokyo). Breakfast was an experience alone; we spread are solid butter straight from the fridge with are teaspoons, No staff around to provide knives. We could elaborate further .........

The room is nice and clean in general. The surroundings of the lodge is full of green and fresh air.
But the serious lack of staff in this hotel lodge causes major delay in serving meals. For anyone who wishes to dine in the facility be warned, this hotel is not capable of serving food on time. Not at all.
Tourists from South Africa often stay at these properties. Ideas for your future trips.
